My name is Janice Scully. Welcome! I live in Upstate N.Y., but as a child I grew up downstate in a small town not far from New York City. My four siblings and I lived upstairs over our family restaurant. Besides writing, reading and all libraries, I love to create things with fabric and yarn. I also love good food.
This site is about poetry for young people. It’s named after where I live, near Syracuse, N.Y. It used to be called the salt city because salt water bubbled up from the ground, sort of like where poems come from, somewhere deep. I hope to share my favorite poets and poems.
Janice, that is a fun thought. Can we look at each bird and wonder about its story? That black-headed gull is beautiful. I don’t think I’ve seen one before.
Umm, I saw him on FB, too, Janice. He gets around! I’ve been enjoying your haiku this month! Small observations of what you’re seeing!
Your haiku distills the mystery of birds perfectly: are they coming or going? Well done, Janice. 🙂
