Welcome to Poetry Friday this week hosted by Carol at Beyond Literacy HERE. I look forward to what she has for us this week!
I received lovely postcards from Poetry Friday friends Molly Hogan, Heidi Mordhorst, Michelle Kogan, Gail Aldous, Linda Baie, and Tricia Stohr-hunt and Jone MacCullough. They were bright spots in an otherwise rather dreary week. Thank you Jone for masterminding the poetry swap-New Years post cards! I was thrilled to receive them in my mailbox and loved all the photos, poems and artwork. Thank you all!

Jone shares a photo along with a quote and a poem inspired by it:

The Horse in My Throat for Duncan Remember that raw day in February when you told the aching truth? "The horse in my throat is a red dragon-horse his roaring burns me up in hot strawberry smoke his hoofs and claws are rough and sweet my voice is tangled in the beating of his wings he's a thirsty horse hungry for lemon and honey but if I feed him he'll whinny and fly away" © Heidi Mordhorst Poem from PUMKIN BUTTERFLY 2009
I will be posting on Poetry Friday somewhat erratically, I guess you’d say, over the next few weeks as I will be visiting family. I will also take some pictures and gather some new ideas that I can share going forward. I hope you all have a terrific rest of winter. Today in Syracuse it was sunny and in the fifties, so I know many of you will be getting some springlike weather. Enjoy and stay safe!
Hi Janice, thanks for sharing your rich bevy of postcard art and poems, and mine too, visual treats in all senses! Wishing you well with your family and idea collecting. BTW the Octopus book you shared few weeks back looks intriguing!
Oh Janice, so much to love here! I am in love with Heidi’s red dragon-horse! And Kelli Russell Agodon’s question really grabs me. Thank you for sharing all! xo
Janice, enjoy the travels and inspiration and spring-like weather. It is so lovely to see all the poems, especially so many shout-outs to the stately dragon. (I hope my postcard will make it to you soon! It seems to be on a slow route.)
Janice, I have kept up with your Poetry Postcards and see that you are as excited about them as I have been. There is such a variety of styles and word choices. Thank you for sharing some I received and others that were not part of my original 10 swaps. It is so wonderful to be surrounded by poetry friends. Enjoy your weekend.
Thanks for sharing, Janice – many of these I’ve received, but not all, and they’re so wonderful! (Thank you for YOUR lovely card.)
Safe travels and happy inspirations as you spend precious time with family – Happy Valentine’s Day to you & yours!
Hi Janice, I’ve received some of these, & love seeing others, too. Jone has given us a mailbox full of gifts with the postcards, hasn’t she? Each one is a treasure! Enjoy your family visiting!
Such a plethora of poetry goodness, Janice!
Thanks for sharing all this beauty and riskiness, Janice–enjoy your visit with family! xo
Happy Lunar New Year! What a feast of wonderful poems from friends. Is there any other mail so great? I don’t think so. The positive vibes of possibility are inspirational.
What a feast Janice! Thank you for sharing.
I hope you received my card. I don’t see it here, which is fine, but I’m worried it didn’t come. My mother-in-law recently held a book signing at our house. Postcards that were sent out in November are only just recently arriving to their destinations. Doesn’t speak highly to our US postal service, if you ask me.
Nevertheless, I have enjoyed the wealth of cards I have received. Poetry in the mailbox is the best!
When you all share your poetry swap treasures, we all get to participate vicariously. Love these, Janice.
